The Carlino’s Curated Wine Collection includes hand-picked wines from family and small wineries all around Europe. So much of Carlino’s brand centers around the physical spaces where our food is created and shared. This applies to our store fronts, the family farm in Abruzzo, our customers kitchens and their tables. These buildings represent a key aspect of Carlino’s brand: Home.
Home and this feeling of community are enhanced by these buildings that we prepare our food in, the hand picked family winerys, and the places where our customers can enjoy a piece of our home in their home.
CARLINO’S WINE
The first addition to the Carlino’s Curated Wine Collection is the Inzolia Sicilia DOC, a white wine made from the Inzolia grape variety native to Sicily, Italy. This Inzolia is Controlled Designation of Origin (DOC) certified meaning it has a stamp of approval from the Italian government to its origins in Sicily.

PERRICONE DOC SICILIA
This Perricone from Sicily is made from an ancient vine cultivated since 1800 in Western Sicily which was abandoned and almost in the process of extinction. This vine has been rediscovered in recent times and makes a wine of ruby color. Perricone is considered an Old World Wine but with a fresh young taste.
I created the illustration with a mixture of oil pastels, colored pencil. I did multiple renders of the same scene and layered them on top of each other digitally to create a unique image that captures the texture of both mediums.

I chose to make the edges painterly, mimicking the way an un-finsihed painting would feel at the edge of the canvas, This choice coupled with the medium brings a seniority and confidence to the label that an Old World Wine should encompasss while keeping the color scheme and general aesthetic young and inviting.
